As a championship venue, Sherwood Forest has hosted numerous prestigious national competitions, including the 2006 England Boy's Amateur Stroke Play Championships, British and English Seniors championships, regional Open Championship qualifying, the Brabazon Trophy, and the 2022 McGregor Trophy. The club received the England Golf Championship venue of the year award in 2023, testament to its standing as a premier championship course.
