The course is characterized by rolling fairways, undulating greens, and challenging terrain. Notable features include fifty sand bunkers, seven ponds, and a natural creek throughout the property. The landscape incorporates acres of wetlands and natural grass areas complemented by hundreds of trees. All bentgrass tees, fairways, and greens were installed during the comprehensive renovation that involved work on all eighteen holes—thirteen existing holes received full renovation from tee to green, while five holes feature completely new layouts. The course spans both north and south of Cheshire Road, with a new tunnel connecting the front and back nines. The course requires careful club selection to avoid hazards of trees and rough alongside sometimes narrow fairways, with the closing stretch from hole 15 onwards featuring beautiful Angus Woodland with narrow tree-lined fairways. The finishing holes from the 13th onwards are tighter and more demanding than the first 12. Located in the Angus countryside, the course is nestled within grounds that boast a 19th century country house hotel. The Glens Golf Course was added in 1992 to complement the Old Course at the Letham Grange Hotel property, offering a shorter alternative that still requires careful shot selection. The courses were reopened under the management of Letham Grange Golf Club thanks to efforts of keen members who often worked on a voluntary basis.
