Notable characteristics include carefully contoured greens shaped by multiple craftsmen, natural hazards that appear organically formed, and holes that conceal or reveal landscape dramatically. Signature holes include the opening par five, which crests a ridge to reveal Mt. Blue Sky; the fourth hole, ranked among the toughest with its diagonal cross-bunker and strategic swale; the sixth, a long par three framed by an ancient Gambel oak; and the ninth, an "up-and-over" hole requiring shots blind to the green. The design emphasizes strategic variety and shot-making over raw length, incorporating risk-reward elements and unpredictable bounces.
