The course was originally designed by landscape architect Marcel Knotz, with preliminary planning by Canadian Golf Landscaping. The first nine holes opened in June 1970, followed by the back nine in June 1972. The layout underwent significant transformations in 1985, 1996, 2001, 2004, and 2010. The most recent major renovation in 2010 involved the expertise of international course designer Graham Cooke. The club’s name was selected in a 1968 contest won by Yvon Provost, referencing the fertile region between the St. Lawrence River and the American border known as the Triangle d’Or. The club received its charter from the Quebec government in May 1968, with initial funding provided by 152 shareholders who secured lifetime membership privileges at age 65. The site is noted for its tranquility, with few residences in the immediate vicinity.
