Established in 1908, the Club is proud of its rich tradition, quality of membership and for providing service that exceeds expectations. The 18-hole course measures 6,687 yards and was designed by Tom Bendelow. Located 35 miles north of downtown Pittsburgh, off of Route 8 and less than one mile from the Butler County Airport, Butler Country Club is situated in western Pennsylvania. The course's recent bunker work and green expansion has elevated the playing characteristics. The course has a great mix of hole lengths, with two great par 5's and a set of distinct par 3's. The par 4's have significant variation and demand a player hit almost all of the clubs in their bag. The greens are also varied and create interest with a variety of shapes and contours. Improvements have been made by Ed Ault in 1963, Ferdinand Garbin in 1986 and most recently by golf course architect, Ron Forse. With a committed staff that maintains the highest standards, the end result is a well manicured and beautiful course at all times.

The eighteen-hole course plays 6,708 yards and is unlike most in the area as it is easy to walk, with very few hills. At a par 70, it is an enjoyable course and offers an interesting and unique experience each round. The course has a USGA rating of 73.1 with a slope rating of 132 on Bent Grass. The original nine holes, created by Tom Bendelow were redesigned by Emil Loeffler and John McGlynn in the early 1920s. Then, Leonard Macomber designed the back nine and redesigned the existing holes in 1928. Since that time improvements have been made by Ed Ault in 1963, Ferdinand Garbin in 1986 and most recently by golf course architect, Ron Forse. The club is rooted in tradition and built on genuine hospitality, with family-friendly dining, challenging rounds on the golf course, relaxing days by the pool, spirited tennis, and a full calendar of social events.

The 18-hole, par-72 course has undergone numerous upgrades since it opened in 1969, with a major re-design occurring in 1988 when new holes were added and the course lengthened, and the 6th green was rebuilt with the 3rd hole made into a par 5. The course features 6,211 yards of golf from the longest tees. The beautiful rolling terrain, without condos or other nearby buildings, provides the natural feeling of golf courses from decades ago. New greens, tees, and other changes have made the course more challenging in recent years, but it's still not too tough for the average player. A distinctive feature of the course is its integrated airport-Butter Valley Golf Port sits in the heart of what was once called the Butter Valley, named for the large number of dairy farms located in the valley from Hereford to Boyertown. The runway physically separates holes on the course, and operational aircraft landings and takeoffs provide a unique element not found at typical golf facilities.
