Bute Golf Club's Kingarth course is a nine-hole layout established in 1888, making it the oldest golf course on the Isle of Bute. Designed by David Cuthbert of St Andrews, the course stretches 4,994 yards with a par of 68 for two laps. Located on the west side of the island near Stravannan Bay, the course offers spectacular seaside golf with dramatic views of The Sleeping Warrior mountain on Arran as a backdrop.

Despite its modest length, the course presents genuine challenges through its varied topography and strategic hazards. Notable features include a tricky second hole with a wall hazard, a short third hole alongside the shore featuring a demanding 147-yard par-3 that requires accuracy to avoid missing the green, and hillocks at the eighth. A burn at the third hole adds further difficulty. The course's intimate nine-hole design provides an authentic experience of golf's origins while maintaining sufficient challenge for both members and visitors through its demanding shot requirements and undulating terrain set within stunning natural surroundings.
