Located in Yufu, Oita Prefecture, Yufu Kogen Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course situated at an elevation of 800 meters. Designed by Choei Miyazawa and Hideo Kurosawa, the layout spans 6,750 yards with a Course Rating of 72.3. The facility opened in September 1973 and is operated by Yufu Kogen Co., Ltd. The course is characterized by its high-altitude setting, which offers expansive views of Mount Yufu and the Kuju mountain range, integrating the natural landscape into the playing experience. The design features significant elevation changes and undulating terrain that demand strategic shot selection. The course includes a variety of hole types, from dogleg left long holes requiring carries over bunkers to elevated greens that test distance control. Several holes feature water hazards, including a par-3 that plays over a pond and a par-5 that offers a risk-reward carry over water for longer hitters. The difficulty is heightened by the frequent use of bunkers guarding the approaches and the need to account for wind conditions typical of a highland course. Notable challenges include the 18th hole, a dogleg left par-5 that requires a precise approach to an elevated green after a carry over water. The 7th hole presents a downhill par-3 over a pond, where club selection and wind calculation are critical. The 13th hole is a short, flat par-3 that requires accuracy to avoid left-side trouble. The course is played as a self-play round with navigation carts, and the club enforces a half-time goal of 2 hours and 15 minutes to maintain pace of play. Yufu Kogen Golf Club hosts annual internal tournaments, including the Ladies Championship, Senior Championship, and Captain's Cup. The club also accommodates external events, such as the 2025 visit by the Hiroshima Toyo Carp baseball team. The clubhouse, covering 2,368 square meters, features an open entrance hall and a restaurant with views of Mount Yufu, alongside three competition rooms for member events.
