Taconic Golf Club features an 18-hole, par-71 course located in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Wayne Stiles of Stiles & Van Kleek was commissioned in 1927 to design and construct the course. In 2008, renowned golf course architect Gil Hanse was retained for a multi-million dollar renovation project, which was completed in 2009. Many of the greens are located on top of knolls or small hills, and the course provides plenty of room off the tee with the real challenge at the green. The greens are fast with significant slope from back to front. The land is owned by Williams College, though an independent Board of Directors oversees daily operation. The course has repeatedly made Golf Magazine's list of the Top 100 Courses You Can Play and Golfweek's list of top collegiate campus courses, ranked 3rd in 2020, and Golf Digest ranks Taconic as the 9th best course in Massachusetts. The course has hosted three USGA championships: the 1956 U.S. Junior Amateur, 1963 U.S. Women's Amateur, and 1996 U.S. Senior Amateur. Jack Nicklaus made a hole-in-one on the 14th hole during a practice round, commemorated by an engraved rock.

The course features 6632 yards of golf from the longest tees with a course rating of 72.1 and a slope rating of 140. Situated on a ridge overlooking the Ohio River Valley, the course presents a challenging layout for golfers of all skill levels. The course has a terrific layout over hilly terrain. Notable holes include back-to-back par fives at the 562-yard 3rd and 544-yard 4th, the water-protected par three 12th and the 497-yard 14th, played to a sand-encircled raised green. Since the course is laid out across the top of a hill, most holes slope toward the right, and the course requires patience and strategy when playing it. Over the years Williams has been the site of three WV Open tournaments and numerous Tri-State PGA events. Rated in the top ten of West Virginia's best golf courses, Williams is a beautiful, well-maintained layout that offers challenges for players at every level.
