The Tribute

MI

The Tribute is a Robbins/Koch design comprising 1,100 acres in the Sturgeon River Valley. Yardages range from 5,085 from the forward tees to 7,347 from the tips, with four to six tee boxes accommodating all levels of play. The course took eight years to build and was christened "The Tribute" in honor of both the owner Keith Gornick and designer Gary Koch's fathers, with a plaque on the first tee describing how the course is a tribute to them and "the love of the land and the game of golf that they imparted to their sons". Nearly every tee is elevated, with holes 3, 6, 11, 14, 16, and 18 being most stunning, and from the tees of the 430-yard par-4 3rd, players can see the horizon over 30 miles away. The terrain features big elevation changes, ravine crossings, and blind shots, while the green complexes are spectacular from hole to hole with huge undulating greens. The Tribute opened in 2002, and was recently named the 8th Best Public Golf Course in Michigan by Michigan Golf Magazine.
