Boringdon Park Golf Club

Devon

Boringdon Park Golf Club is located at Plympton near Plymouth in Devon, set within 400 acres of parkland with panoramic views of both Dartmoor and Plymouth Sound. The club offers 27 holes across two courses: the 18-hole Saltram Course and the 9-hole Estuary Course. The Saltram Course was designed by Donald Steel and extended to its current 18-hole layout in 1997, measuring 6,918 yards from the back tees with a par of 73 and a course rating of 74.1, making it one of the longer courses in Devon. The greens on both courses are built to USGA specification. The 9-hole Estuary Course, which opened around 2010, measures approximately 3,013 yards at par 36 and comprises a balanced mix of par threes, fours, and fives. The Saltram Course is laid out across undulating parkland terrain, with the natural contours of the land incorporated into the design. The layout features strategic bunkering influenced in part by St Andrews-style double greens on some holes, along with multiple water hazards that come into play throughout the round. The course carries a slope rating of 125 and presents a varied test across its length, with several demanding par fours and fives rewarding accurate driving and approach play. Views of Dartmoor and Plymouth Sound are visible from several points on both courses. The signature hole on the Saltram Course is the 13th, a par three of 209 yards with an island green completely surrounded by water, widely regarded as one of the more testing short holes in the region. The club has hosted the English Golf Union County Championship among other competitive events.

Borth & Ynyslas Golf Club

Ceredigion 4 upcoming events

Established in 1885 as the oldest 18-hole golf course in Wales, Borth & Ynyslas Golf Club is situated in a spectacular location on Cardigan Bay. The only true links course in Ceredigion, it was redesigned by Harry S Colt in 1947 and serves as a Golf Union of Wales championship venue. The course measures 6,085 yards at par-70 and sits within the Dyfi National Nature Reserve. The opening and closing holes cross an old river bed, while the turn nestles within the dunes at Ynyslas. Rolling humps, hollows and strategically placed bunkers demand accurate striking throughout, with the prevailing coastal breeze—locally known as the "Borth Breeze"—a constant factor in play. The five par-threes present the course's most demanding holes, with wind direction often determining whether they play significantly over or under their measured yardages. The club became a founding member of the Welsh Golfing Union in 1895.
