Established in 1885 as the oldest 18-hole golf course in Wales, Borth & Ynyslas Golf Club is situated in a spectacular location on Cardigan Bay. The only true links course in Ceredigion, it was redesigned by Harry S Colt in 1947 and serves as a Golf Union of Wales championship venue. The course measures 6,085 yards at par-70 and sits within the Dyfi National Nature Reserve. The opening and closing holes cross an old river bed, while the turn nestles within the dunes at Ynyslas. Rolling humps, hollows and strategically placed bunkers demand accurate striking throughout, with the prevailing coastal breeze—locally known as the "Borth Breeze"—a constant factor in play. The five par-threes present the course's most demanding holes, with wind direction often determining whether they play significantly over or under their measured yardages. The club became a founding member of the Welsh Golfing Union in 1895.
