Siwanoy Country Club

NY

Located in Bronxville, New York, Siwanoy Country Club is one of the finest private member-owned clubs in lower Westchester County. Established in 1901, the club features an 18-hole course with 6,359 yards for a par of 71. The Donald Ross designed golf course was established in 1915 and hosted the inaugural PGA Championship in the fall of 1916. Built on a tight 110 acres and measuring just under 6,700 yards, Siwanoy's challenge comes in the form of firm and immaculate greens with gigantic slopes and extensive run-offs. The Ross routing is typically tight and features numerous elevated greens and strong, straight holes that flow across the rolling terrain, with many greens steeply contoured and difficult to hit and hold given their size and the dense roughs that surround them. The course has retained nearly all of its original Ross characteristics even after renovations by Robert Trent Jones in 1952 and Mike DeVries in 2007, with tree removal during the most recent renovation allowing the course to return to its original design with more open driving areas and expanded putting surfaces. The rolling terrain provides for an ideal walking course, thus the Club has an extensive caddie program. The course is the site of the first PGA Championship in 1916 and home course of Jess Sweetser, US and British Amateur champion in the 1920s.
