Berrigan Golf Course

New South Wales

Berrigan Golf & Bowling Club is an 18-hole, fully watered golf course in the heart of the Riverina region, with a relatively short Par 72 measuring just under 5,900 metres. The club is located in Berrigan, a township of about 1,000 residents halfway between Albury and Echuca, approximately 30 km north of Barooga. The small to medium-sized front-sloping greens covered in bent grass can become quite fast, presenting a challenge for even experienced putters. The tee boxes are raised and clearly defined throughout the course, fairways are reasonably wide and covered in kikuyu grass, and there are only seven bunkers with only four holes having greenside bunkers. Notable holes include the 1st, a long par four and one of the toughest holes on the course; the 6th, a straightish par four with trees protecting the left side and two bunkers guarding the green; and the 13th, a slightly uphill par three with bunkers guarding the green. The course features a tree-lined layout with water hazards throughout. The Golf Club at Berrigan was first established in 1905 as a nine-hole course, extended to 18 holes in 1949, and a new clubhouse was built in 1957 at a cost of around £13,000. The Bowls Club amalgamated with the Golf Club in 1964, adding bowling greens to the facility.
