Oak Point Golf Course

Oak Point is an 18-hole, par-72 course measuring 6,759 yards with a slope rating of 140 and a course rating of 73.8, designed by Clyde Johnston and completed in 1989. Located on neighboring John's Island rather than Kiawah Island itself, the course sits near Charleston, South Carolina. Originally conceived by architect Clyde Johnston, Oak Point sits by the Kiawah River and Haulover Creek, surrounded by maritime forest. A true shotmaker's course, Oak Point showcases undulating fairways and challenging greens that favor a thinking approach over raw power. Water hazards come into play on 17 of the 18 holes, adding an element of strategic risk throughout the round. The challenging design features stands of massive oaks defining the fairways, plus a plethora of wildlife including birds, deer, and bobcats. The course received the 2019 Charleston Golf Course Owners Association Course of the Year award following a regrassing in Paspalum and refreshed design. The signature 18th hole offers a spectacular view of Haulover Creek and the Kiawah River, with a back elevated tee box providing an excellent photo opportunity. This par-4 finishing hole has a deep green protected by marsh on the front and right. The Amateur Players Tour's Conflict at Kiawah uses Oak Point for multi-round play, and while it may not host professional championships like the Ocean Course, Oak Point is a venue for various events showcasing its challenging layout.

The West Course at Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond features 18 holes, 6,752 yards of golf, and plays to a par of 70. The course was designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1977. Located across Kelly Road east of Oak Tree National, Oak Tree Country Club is a 36-hole facility in the affluent city of Edmond, just north of Oklahoma City. The West Course offers a moderately challenging layout characterized by plenty of bunkers and water hazards. The driving corridors are generous with the exception of a couple of tree-lined par fours early on the inward nine, but the course features a multitude of bunkering throughout and liberal use of periphery greenside mounding, making offline approaches lead to awkward stances and angles. The treacherous 8th hole features a pond-guarded green and railroad tie retaining wall that showcase Dye's mastery of creating both visually stunning and demanding challenges. The 14th hole is a 174-yard par 3 with water on the left side of the green and artificial mounding on the right side and in the back. The 9th hole is a 393-yard par 4 where players have little idea what to expect as a large pond resting in front consumes the majority of the foreground, and upon clearing the water, players are presented with an Alps hill in front of the green enhanced by spectacle bunkers. The West Course plays approximately two strokes softer than the East Course, making it accessible to golfers of varying skill levels while maintaining strategic interest.
