Moraine Country Club

OH

Moraine Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course spanning 7,270 yards, originally designed in 1930 by Alec "Nipper" Campbell. Located in Kettering, Ohio, in the Dayton Metropolitan Area, the course was described by Campbell as "A bit of Scotland transplanted to the Miami Valley." Built on glacial moraine topography, the course was created with movement in the terrain, though thousands of trees were eventually planted that obscured the original design. Keith Foster's restoration work removed nearly all the trees to reveal the domed hills. The course features extremely fast and sloping greens that test the short game, with approximately 3,000 trees removed during Foster's restoration work that opened up vistas across the course and improved turf conditions. While the opening holes are considered less noteworthy, holes 14-18 represent one of the best stretches in the state of Ohio. The 16th hole, a 408-yard par 4, serves as a signature hole with views across much of the golf course afforded at the tee. The golf course hosted the 1945 PGA Championship, which Byron Nelson won. In 2016, the course underwent a $5,000,000 restoration to bring the Alec Campbell-designed course back to its original design. As of 2025, the golf course is ranked in 7th position in the top courses in the state of Ohio by Golf Digest.
