Located in Ritto, Shiga, Lake Biwa Country Club is a 27-hole facility comprising the Ritto, Mikami, and Biwako courses. The original design was executed by Seizo Tomizawa, who completed the Ritto Course in 1959 and the Biwako Course in 1960, followed by the Mikami Course in 1968. The Biwako Course underwent a significant renovation in October 2020 under the supervision of Greg Norman, transforming it into a tournament-ready layout. The club has hosted numerous national and international events, including the 1993 and 2021 Japan Open, the 1999 and 2014 Japan Women's Open, the 2009 Japan Senior Open, and the 2011 Asia-Pacific Open. The Ritto Course is characterized by flat terrain and ample distance, with numerous pine trees separating the holes to maintain a sense of quiet. It features a par 36 layout with yardages ranging from 2,607 yards on the silver tees to 3,516 yards on the tournament black tees. The Mikami Course, named after Mount Mikami, is also flat but demands precise shot-making due to its strategic hazard placement. Its par 36 layout measures between 2,510 and 3,434 yards depending on the tee selection. The Biwako Course utilizes the natural topography of the land, offering varied elevation changes and distinct layouts for each hole. The eighth hole, a par 5, provides a view of Lake Biwa and the Hieizan mountain range. This course was redesigned by Greg Norman in 2020 and plays as a par 36, with yardages ranging from 2,414 to 3,349 yards. All three courses feature Bentgrass greens and Korail grass fairways, with a standard playing rotation of Ritto to Mikami, Mikami to Biwako, and Biwako to Ritto.
