The course welcomes dogs on leashes and benefits from its convenient road accessibility within the densely populated Rhine-Main region.

Kiawah Island Club - Cassique

SC

Cassique is a par-72 links-style golf course designed by Tom Watson for his North American debut, located on Kiawah Island where the Kiawah River meets the Atlantic Ocean. The 7,050-yard course winds through maritime forest and marshlands, featuring a walkable layout inspired by Celtic links courses. Watson's design philosophy emphasizes strategic flexibility, with holes that can be played multiple ways depending on wind conditions, allowing golfer creativity to play a key role. The Front Nine offers true links-style play characteristic of Irish and Scottish courses, while the Back Nine transitions to tree-lined holes opening toward marshlands and the Kiawah River. Notable features include Mount Watson, once Charleston County's highest point offering panoramic views, and Hole 15, celebrated for its ocean and marsh vistas. Hole 9's false front is known to challenge golfers. Since opening in 2000, Cassique has received consistent recognition, including Golf Digest's "America's Best New Private Courses," Golfweek's "Top 100 Residential Courses," and Golf Digest's "Top 100 Modern Courses." The course has hosted numerous prestigious tournaments, including the 2009 US Mid-Amateur Championship and 2023 USGA Four-Ball Championship. A state-of-the-art Golf Learning Center provides instruction and club fitting services.

Kiawah Island Golf Resort - The Ocean Course

SC

The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course designed by Pete and Alice Dye. Located on the eastern end of Kiawah Island, it features the most seaside holes in the Northern Hemisphere, with ten holes directly hugging the Atlantic Ocean and eight running parallel to them. The course's distinctive characteristic is its extreme exposure to wind. With no prevailing winds, Dye essentially designed two courses in one—one for easterly and one for westerly conditions. Players can experience up to an 8-club difference on holes depending on wind direction and strength, making it one of the world's most wind-affected courses outside the UK and Ireland. Alice Dye's suggestion to raise the entire course above the dunes, rather than building behind them, provides unobstructed ocean views from every hole but significantly increases difficulty by exposing play to the Atlantic's unpredictable breezes. The course is ranked #4 among U.S. public courses and 25th among Golf Digest's 100 Greatest U.S. Golf Courses. The layout combines strategic risk-reward holes with demanding approach shots and challenging greens positioned within natural dune formations and sand ridges, creating a formidable test of golf skill.

The front nine totals 36 par with 3,484 yards from the back tees, while the back nine also plays to 36 par and 3,429 yards. The course is known for its demanding nature, with several long par-5s serving as signature holes. The 1st hole is a 577-yard downhill par-5 that serves as the opening hole, featuring a narrow fairway and a green protected by bunkers on both sides. The 7th hole, a 511-yard par-5, features a distinctive three-tiered green and rewards aggressive play for those who can reach in two. The 10th hole stretches to 592 yards, while the 16th is another 577-yard par-5 that requires a carry over a valley on the approach shot, making it one of the most challenging holes on the course. Kibi Country Club has hosted numerous significant amateur and professional tournaments since its opening. Notable events include the Okayama Open Golf Championship, which the club has hosted multiple times (in 1985, 2010, 2018, and 2023), the Kansai Professional Golf Championship in 1986, the Chugoku Inter Club Golf Competition, the All Japan Club Champions Amateur, the National Prefectural Amateur Championship, and the Chugoku Amateur Golf Championship.
