Atunyote at Turning Stone

NY 1 upcoming event

Atunyote is an 18-hole, championship golf course designed by Tom Fazio and established in 2004. The parkland setting of Atunyote features gently rolling hills, small waterfalls and tree-lined fairways. The course extends to 7,315 yards from the back tees. A New England-style clubhouse serves as the focal point for the course and overlooks the 18th green as well as a large lake which runs along the fairway of the dramatic final hole. Every hole is named after a bird—starting with "Red Tail Hawk" on the 398-yard 1st and ending with "Bald Eagle" on the long par five 18th. The four par threes are all testing holes; the toughest is the 250-yard 11th, which plays to a green that slopes from left to right towards a creek. When Atunyote was on the PGA Tour roster, this was the longest par three that the pros played all season. The layout features a mix of open parkland and tree-lined holes with rolling fairways leading to large, undulating greens. Along the fairways, large bunkers lie in wait while several holes are defended by small lakes, streams, waterfalls and wetland areas. Large, undulating and at times mesmerizing greens complement the formidable array of sand and water defences. The course hosted the PGA Professional National Championship and BC Open in 2006, and was home to the PGA Tour's Turning Stone Resort Championship from 2007 to 2010. Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar each captured PGA Tour titles at the course.
