Woodland Country Club is an 18-hole championship golf course located north of Indianapolis in Hamilton County. Originally designed by renowned golf course architect Bill Diddel in 1951, the course was built on 160 acres of rolling farmland. Initially operating as a public course, its distinctive layout attracted regional golfers and led to its conversion to a private club in 1956 after 300 charter members were secured.
The course has undergone significant evolution, with major renovations including the installation of bent grass fairways and greens. Most notably, the course was recently redesigned by leading golf course architect Pete Dye, maintaining Diddel's original routing while modernizing playing surfaces and tee complexes. The rolling terrain of the original farmland provides natural elevation changes and visual interest throughout the layout.
As the first private country club in Hamilton County, Woodland has maintained a strong family-oriented tradition spanning multiple generations. Beyond golf, the club offers comprehensive amenities including an Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis courts, bocce ball facilities, and fitness center, positioning it as a full-service country club destination.
