Windber Country Club was founded in 1959 and originally opened nine holes for play in 1961, expanding into an 18-hole championship facility in 1966. The club is a family-oriented private golf facility located near Johnstown in Cambria County Pennsylvania, situated in the Laurel Highlands. The 18-hole course features 6,989 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course was designed by James G. Harrison, ASGCA and Ferdinand Garbin, ASGCA, and opened in 1961.
The par seventy-two course is both scenic and challenging, with four water holes and strategically placed sand traps. Notable features include the drivable par 4 fourth hole and holes nine to fifteen, which present a stringent test of golf, with the course's layout being both playable and exciting for golfers of all skill levels. The course rating is 74.5 and it has a slope rating of 132 on Blue grass. A clubhouse with dining and bar facilities was completed in 1975, followed by a 2,500 square foot state-of-the-art pro shop constructed in 2010.
