Willow Springs Golf Course, designed by Emil Loeffler and John McGlynn in 1924, is located east of downtown San Antonio near the Frost Bank Center. The course features open fairways and large greens, appealing to amateur golfers, though local knowledge is valuable due to multiple sharp doglegs throughout the layout.

From the back tees, Willow Springs plays 7,029 yards with a slope rating of 133, presenting a challenging test. The course's defining characteristic is its length and strategic design. Hole #2, a 655-yard par 5 dogleg right, stands as the longest hole in San Antonio. This signature hole features water hazards on the left and Salado Creek on the right, requiring three excellent shots to reach the green in regulation.

Willow Springs boasts significant tournament history, hosting the Texas Open ten times between 1927-1928 and 1941-1949. Golf legends Ben Hogan (1946) and Sam Snead (1948) won Texas Open championships at the course. The layout includes multiple tee options for both men and women, with greens constructed of TifEagle Ultradwarf Bermuda and fairways of Common Bermuda grass.
