Willow Pond Golf Club is an 18-hole course located at 808 Golf Course Road in Rantoul, Illinois. The course was originally designed by architect E. Lawrence Packard in 1963 as the Chanute Air Force Base Golf Course. Packard, who designed 145 other courses worldwide including Brookhill, Mattoon, and Danville, intended his layouts to offer a pleasant experience for both men and women, adhering to a philosophy of "easy pars but difficult birdies." The course became Willow Pond Golf Club after the closure of Chanute Air Force Base in 1993. The layout features fairways, water hazards, and sand traps that test a golfer's accuracy. The course is designed to challenge golfers of any skill level while providing a relaxing atmosphere. It offers both 9-hole and 18-hole options, with daily green fees available for standard play, seniors, and juniors. Twilight rates are also offered on weekdays. The club includes a restaurant, the Willow Pond Bar & Grill, and hosts various events including junior golf academies and tournaments such as the Firecracker Open. The course is managed by Director of Golf William Karkos and maintains a focus on providing a quality experience with exceptional service.
