Wearside Golf Club

Wearside Golf Club is one of the oldest and most picturesque parkland courses in the North East of England, situated between Sunderland and Washington in the shadow of Penshaw monument on the southern side of the River Wear. The course features an unusual layout, being among a select number of British golf clubs that begin with a par 3 and finish with a par 5, both routing away from the clubhouse. This distinctive design creates a demanding round that showcases picturesque views throughout the course. The landscape is characterized by parkland terrain, offering both challenge and visual appeal to players of all levels. The club maintains an active junior section for players aged seven to twenty-one, organized into beginner, intermediate, and advanced groups, with regular coaching sessions and competitive opportunities. The course hosts various tournaments and competitions throughout the year, including the Wearside Opens and other events, establishing itself as a notable venue for competitive golf in the region.
