Wausau Country Club is a private 18-hole, par-71 golf course located in Schofield, Wisconsin, situated near Rib Mountain and Lake Wausau. The course was originally designed by E. L. Packard, who laid out the initial nine holes in 1908. The layout was expanded to 18 holes in 1960 through a collaboration between Packard and architect Paul Coates. In 1965, the club renovated the clubhouse and reversed the front and back nines, a configuration that remains in place today. The course measures 6,403 yards from the back tees and features four sets of tee boxes to accommodate players of varying skill levels.

The terrain is characterized by lush, rolling fairways lined with Wisconsin pine trees, integrating the natural landscape into the design. The club has maintained its status as an Audubon Sanctuary, emphasizing environmental stewardship alongside its recreational offerings. The course provides a challenging experience for golfers, with its length and layout designed to test players while remaining accessible to a wide range of abilities.

Wausau Country Club has a long history of hosting notable figures in sports and entertainment. Past visitors to the course include professional golfers Johnny Miller and Andy North, U.S. Women's Open champion Patty Berg, and baseball legend Willie Mays. The club also counts NFL Hall of Famer Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch, a Wausau native, among its distinguished guests. The facility is managed by a professional staff led by Head Golf Professional Kyle Lindert, with course maintenance overseen by Superintendent Aaron Hansen.
