Waiouru Golf Club is New Zealand's highest 18-hole golf course, located in the Ruapehu District on the southern end of the Desert Road (State Highway 1) near the military town of Waiouru in Manawatū-Whanganui. The par 72 course spans 5,915 yards with an NZGA rating of 70.3. The course features rolling tree-lined fairways that provide a moderately challenging layout, with a slope rating of 114.
The club is renowned for its spectacular year-round views of Mount Ruapehu, Mount Tongariro, and Mount Ngauruhoe, which dominate the landscape from various points around the course. The course is open to the public and welcomes visitors at all times, with prior arrangement available for larger groups. The club serves as home to the annual Mountain Classic tournament.
