Veenker Memorial Golf Course is a premier public golf facility owned and operated by Iowa State University, located in Ames, Iowa. The course officially opened on May 12, 1938, following a vision by George F. Veenker, former ISU athletic director and football coach, and ISU President Raymond Hughes. Originally designed by Perry Maxwell, the course was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration.
VMGC has evolved into one of the Midwest's most challenging and talked-about golf courses, known for demanding play and excellent conditions.
