The UNF golf complex includes a 9-hole, par 3 public golf course, covered driving range and chipping and putting area near Jacksonville, FL. Tucked into the southeast corner of the University of North Florida, the UNF Golf Complex at Hayt Golf Learning Center opened its doors in 2002. The newly designed 9 hole par 3 executive golf course, when viewed from above, closely resembles a horseshoe and is named The Shoe, with two Championship yardage variations of 1174/1236.

There are two Championship yardage options of 1174/1236 and two Member yardage options of 1011/1023, with Senior yardage at 829 and Forward yardage at 703. Each hole presents its own individual challenge, from The Road Hole reminiscent of the famous 17th at St. Andrews, to a shared green on numbers 5 and 6, to bulkhead backed sand traps and greens banked against water hazards. The site was planned as an Audubon International Signature golf course, a certification awarded to those willing to establish a partnership with Audubon International to create an ecologically designed community.

Golf News rated the finishing hole as possibly the best in the area, and Florida Leader Magazine singled out the Center in May 2003 for having the best golf course in the state university system. In 2007, UNF's home golf tournament was renamed the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational, formerly known as the Queen's Harbor Intercollegiate tournament before being named the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship.
