Tsukigase Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 mountain course located in Yamashiro-mura, Nanshikaku-gun, Kyoto Prefecture. Designed by J.E. Crane and opened in October 1967, the property spans 1.19 million square meters and offers a total yardage of 6,880 yards from the back tees. The layout is distinctly split into two contrasting halves: a power-oriented front nine and a technical back nine. The course is played as a round with a riding cart, though carts are not permitted on the fairways. The front nine is characterized by its length and distance, catering to long hitters. The opening hole is a 506-yard par 5 with a wide fairway that allows for aggressive driving, though the approach requires precision to avoid the sloping terrain on the right. The par-4 8th hole, rated as the most difficult for distance, is a 350-yard hole where the fairway narrows and the green is protected by a steep drop-off at the back. The front nine concludes with a 372-yard par 4 that demands accuracy off the tee to set up a manageable approach. The back nine shifts focus to strategy and shot-making, featuring elevation changes and hazards that challenge precision. The 11th hole is a 149-yard par 3 that plays downhill to a large green sloping from right to left, making it a prime candidate for birdie attempts. The 16th hole serves as the signature par 5, offering a dramatic downhill tee shot over 530 yards. While long hitters may attempt to reach the green in two, the approach is guarded by bunkers on both sides, requiring a careful third shot to navigate the sloping green. Tsukigase Country Club holds a JGA Course Rating of 72.6 from the regular tees, with a Slope Rating of 131. The course features a single putting surface and includes practice facilities such as a 200-yard driving range with 14 mats, as well as green and approach practice areas. The club provides a restaurant, locker rooms, and a golf shop, while prohibiting the entry of pets and the carrying of food and beverages from outside.
