The 18-hole, par-70 course measures 7,166 yards from the championship tees and was originally designed in 1982 by Jay Morrish, with player consultants Byron Nelson and Ben Crenshaw, then redesigned in 2008 by D.A. Weibring and Steve Wolfard. Located a mere 20-minute drive from downtown Dallas, the club is private but visitor play can be arranged through the resort. The design is highlighted by rolling fairways, extensive bunkering, and greens that are framed by grassy mounds.

The signature 18th hole is an attractive dogleg left that plays around a pond highlighted by waterfalls, with a bunker on the far side of the fairway and water on the left, thus setting up a demanding approach shot. The 17th hole is a 198-yard par 3 that plays downhill from the tee to a green featuring water on the right and a bunker on the left. The back nine is the course's best side with the 17th and 18th holes providing an impressive climactic finish.

The course hosted the Byron Nelson Championship, an annual PGA TOUR event for 35 years. The Byron Nelson was held at TPC Las Colinas from 1986-1993 and again from 1994-2017 at TPC Four Seasons.
