Originally opened in 1969 as L.B. Houston, Luna Vista Golf Course underwent a significant renovation and rebranding by the City of Dallas. The course is located in North Dallas within the L.B. Houston Sports Complex alongside the L.B. Houston Tennis Center and Elm Fork Shooting Park. The par-72 course stretches 6,800 yards and features four sets of tees to allow each player to "Tee It Forward".

Architects John Colligan and Trey Kemp of Colligan Golf created a short game practice area accommodating pitching, chipping and sand bunker practice onto a strategic course for all golfers. The course features newly sculpted 419 hybrid fairways, white sand bunkers, and Mini Verde Bermuda grass green complexes with enhanced landscaping including magnolias, sweet gum, and maples. The layout challenges golfers to be long from the tee and accurate to the green. The practice facility includes a large putting green, short game area, driving range with simulated fairway and target greens.
