Schroon Lake Golf Course is a municipal facility owned and operated by the Town of Schroon since 1944. The property is a compact, walkable nine-hole layout that plays to par 36 and roughly 2,936 yards for a single loop, with an 18-hole composite of about 6,105 yards when played twice from alternate tees. The course overlooks beautiful Schroon Lake and is guarded by majestic Pharaoh Mountain, with natural beauty and rolling hills combining for a relaxing golfing experience. The terrain rolls over former farm and pasture land with corridors edged by mixed northern hardwoods; views open toward the surrounding hills.

The course was laid out by Donald Ross, announced in September 1917 and constructed in fall 1917 and spring 1918, with Memorial Day 1918 set as the opening. The realized work reflected both a Ross plan and pragmatic field decisions made during construction. A small pro-shop operation, motor carts and pull carts, club rental, and a practice putting green support daily-fee play; seasonal leagues and affordable fee structures anchor the local community emphasis.
