Located in Mooka, Tochigi Prefecture, Tohto Tochigi Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 golf course set within a rolling hill landscape. The facility opened on May 8, 1977, and was designed by Shimizu Construction with course supervision by Toru Nakamura. The property spans 2,134,000 square meters, offering a layout that integrates the natural topography of the region into its strategic design. The course is divided into distinct outward and inward nine-hole sections, each presenting different challenges. The outward course is characterized by open, expansive fairways that allow for sweeping shots, while the inward nine introduces more strategic complexity with undulating terrain and carries over valleys. This design encourages players to adapt their strategy as they progress through the round, balancing the freedom of the front nine with the tactical demands of the back nine. The inward nine begins with a demanding 560-yard par-5 first hole, testing distance off the tee, before transitioning into shorter par-4s and a challenging 124-yard par-3 seventh hole. The course offers multiple tee sets, including regular and back tees, with yardages ranging from 2,982 yards for the outward nine to 3,297 yards for the inward nine depending on the tee box selection. The club maintains a practice facility featuring an 11-bay driving range with a 100-yard distance, restricted to iron use. Managed by Tohto Jidosha Co., Ltd., the course operates with a clubhouse area of 2,089 square meters and is closed on Mondays. The layout remains a testament to its 1970s design philosophy, emphasizing natural terrain integration and strategic shot-making over pure length.
