Located in Tochigi City, Tochigi Country Club sits at the foot of Mount Taihei Prefectural Park, a location known for its cherry blossoms. The facility opened on November 3, 1959, and comprises a 27-hole layout divided into three distinct courses: the West, Center, and East. The grounds feature subtle undulations and greens with varying degrees of contour, designed to offer a different impression on every hole. The West Course is characterized by its expansive layout and excellent visibility. It features a mix of uphill and downhill shots, including a 556-yard par-5 that stands as the longest hole on the property. A notable challenge is the par-5 third hole, described as a horse's back ridge hole where accuracy is prioritized over distance. The course also includes a 198-yard downhill par-3 where missing right leads to trouble, and a 175-yard uphill par-3 with a platform green that demands precise carry distances. The Center Course is described as a technical layout that is mostly flat but requires strategic thinking. It features several dogleg-right par-4s, including a 475-yard ninth hole where the green is noted for being difficult to stop. The par-3 holes present specific challenges, such as the 140-yard seventh hole which is protected by deep bunkers, and the 147-yard second hole which requires a high ball to hold an uphill green. The course tests players with tight fairways and greens that slope away from the center. The East Course offers moderate elevation changes suitable for players from beginner to advanced levels. It includes a 452-yard opening par-5 that rewards safe positioning for a second shot on. The layout features a 167-yard par-3 eighth hole that requires a carry over water, and a 159-yard par-3 second hole with a bowl-shaped green that tests touch. The fairways on this course often slope toward the rough, and several par-4s feature横倾斜 (lateral tilt) greens that can misdirect putts.
