Gold Tochigi President Country Club is a 27-hole facility located in Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, situated just five minutes from the Tochigi Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. The course is divided into three distinct nine-hole loops: the East Out, East In, and West Out courses. Designed and supervised by Jack Nicklaus, the layout is characterized by a wide expanse of turf punctuated by 50 strategically placed bunkers that demand thoughtful strategy off the tee and on approach shots. The East Out course presents a challenging start with a mix of par-4s and par-5s, including a demanding 578-yard par-5 fourth hole. The East In loop introduces more natural terrain features, with the course description noting the presence of exposed rock faces and water hazards that add to the difficulty. This section includes a short 164-yard par-3 second hole and a lengthy 535-yard par-5 twelfth hole. The West Out course, described as the flattest of the three, still maintains high difficulty through calculated bunker placement and longer holes, such as the 559-yard par-5 eighth hole. Each nine-hole loop plays to a par 36, making the total course par 108. The yardage varies significantly by tee, with the East Out course ranging from 2,357 yards for the ladies' tees to 3,395 yards for the championship tees. The East In course spans from 2,532 to 3,491 yards, while the West Out course measures between 2,707 and 3,443 yards depending on the tee box. The handicap ratings are distributed across the holes to reflect the varying degrees of difficulty inherent in Nicklaus’s design.
