Founded in 1914, Kanawaki Golf Club is one of Quebec's premier private golf courses, located just 20 minutes from downtown Montreal. The 18-hole championship layout is characterized by majestic trees lining challenging fairways, with lush playing conditions and quick, true greens. The course features strategic bunkering and water hazards that demand precision over distance throughout the round.
Kanawaki is recognized for its difficult design and exceptional playing conditions. The signature hole is the long par-3 ninth, where the green sits in a large depression with slopes favoring the left side. Other notable features include the par-5 sixth, which requires precision with strategic bunkers on every shot, and the par-4 seventh, presenting multiple hazards including out-of-bounds, water, and an elevated protected green.
The course is distinguished by its pace of play, with rounds typically completed in four hours or less. Multiple tees accommodate players of varying abilities, with yardages ranging from 97 to 550 yards. The Victorian clubhouse overlooks the 18th green and features a prominent verandah considered among Quebec's finest. The course has gained additional recognition through appearances in television productions and films, including Disney's "The Greatest Game Ever Played."
