Located on the South Shore of Montreal in Kahnawake, the Caughnawaga Golf Club is an 18-hole public Parkland course established in 1967. The layout is divided into two distinct nines named the Wolf and the Bear, honoring the clan families of the Mohawk people. The course offers a Par 70 configuration measuring 6,300 yards from the black tees, featuring four sets of tee boxes to accommodate various skill levels. The setting is characterized by mature tree-lined fairways and a secluded, natural environment that remains quiet and serene despite its proximity to downtown Montreal. The Wolf nine begins with a long Par 5 that leads to a two-tiered green, followed by a challenging Par 4 on the second hole where hilly fairways can leave golfers with imperfect stances. The front nine features a mix of Par 3s and Par 4s, including a 170-yard Par 3 protected by a pond and pot bunkers. The signature hole of the course is the 6th, a 100-to-131-yard Par 3 with an island green inspired by TPC Sawgrass. This hole presents a intimidating shot into the wind onto a two-tiered surface, offering the potential for aces or high scores depending on execution. The Bear nine is known for its difficulty, featuring six consecutive Par 4s that test accuracy and strategy. The 15th hole is widely considered the signature challenge, a 450-yard Par 4 from the black tees that plays into the prevailing wind with a driftwood-infested lake on the left and deep forest on both sides. The back nine also includes a 210-yard Par 3 from the black tees with a large fall-off behind the green, and a closing 535-yard Par 5 that requires a precise second shot to avoid water guarding the large flat green. The course is maintained with tightly mown fairways and well-conditioned greens, designed to provide playability while retaining the character of a wooded Parkland layout. The practice facility includes an all-grass driving range with 20 stations, a putting green, and a chipping green with a practice bunker. The club offers electric carts on paved paths and features a clubhouse with a covered deck overlooking the 18th green, along with a snack bar and pro shop.
