The Heath Golf Club

Course Information Unclaimed

Address:
County Laois
Ireland

The Heath Golf Club was formed in 1930 though golf has been played in the area since the late 19th century, evidenced by the club having a trophy that dates back to 1891. The course is routed across expansive heathland in County Laois. The 18 hole, 71 par golf course is laid out on open heath land, incorporating two natural lakes. The course measures 6689 yards. Eddie Hackett expanded the original 9-hole course to the present 18-hole layout in the 1970s.

The course, often described as "inland links", is laid out on open heathland, and due to the course's exceptionally good drainage golf is playable practically all year round with the permanent greens always in use. Furze features prominently on many holes and the course is a blaze of yellow from early spring onwards. The feature hole is undoubtedly the 164 meter Par 3 eleventh, known as the quarry hole. The course rating is 72.6 with a slope of 126. Facilities available include a 10-bay driving range, lake-side putting green and a chipping practice area as well as a magnificent clubhouse with full bar and catering.
