United States
The Grove Country Club, originally founded in 1964, features a 7,000-yard, par 72 layout designed by Robert B Harris. Four other sets of tees make the course eminently playable for any ability level. The club, formally known as Hillcrest Country Club, provides dual private club memberships in the Chicagoland area with reciprocal play options to The Royal Fox Country Club located in St. Charles, Illinois.
The course presents a challenging layout with significant difficulty factors. It offers plenty of room but accuracy is still needed to maneuver past more than 60 bunkers strategically placed throughout and out-of-bounds on every hole. Water hazards also come into play on eight holes. The slope rating is 138, indicating a demanding test of golf. The course was part of Golf Digest's original 200 Toughest Courses list from 1967-'68.
Located in Long Grove, Illinois, the course features mature trees throughout and Bent Grass greens and Bent Grass fairways. The venue functions as a private membership club serving the Chicagoland region.
