The Creek Golf Club, designed by Russell F. Breedon and opened in 1966, is five minutes from the heart of downtown Spartanburg. The property was developed into a golf course in 1964 designed by noted golf course architect Russell Breeden, situated on land that was formerly part of Camp Croft, a World War II military training facility. The Spartanburg Little Theater that sits just behind the 18th Tee was used for entertainment during training and remains as the only structure that has survived.
The 18-hole course features 6,653 yards of golf for a par of 72, with a course rating of 71.0 and a slope rating of 117 on Bermuda grass. The facility offers four sets of tees so that golfers of any age or ability can have a fun day on the course. The club also features a separate 6-hole Tom Watson designed Par 3 course. The course is great for beginners or intermediate players and includes a practice golf facility, bar and grill, and pro shop. The club has over 400 active members with organized playing opportunities every day of the week as well as a full schedule of member tournaments.
