Terras da Comporta is a 36-hole golf destination located approximately one hour south of Lisbon on Portugal's Alentejo coast, set within a landscape of pine forest, sand dunes, and the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve.
The Dunas Course, designed by Scottish architect David McLay-Kidd (Bandon Dunes, Machrihanish Dunes, Castle Course at St Andrews) and opened in 2023, is an 18-hole par-71 layout measuring 6,555 metres from the back tees. Spread across 84 hectares of natural sandy terrain, it is considered the first true links course in mainland southern Europe, featuring fescue fairways, large waste areas, and bent grass greens positioned on hollows and ridges. It was named World's Best New Golf Course at the 2023 World Golf Awards.
The Torre Course, opened in 2025, is the debut design of Ryder Cup legend Sergio García. Playing to a par-72 over 6,575 metres, it offers a more intimate, woodland character — routing through umbrella pines on free-draining sandy terrain. Inspired by Valderrama, Torre emphasises precision and course management over power, with tight fairways, small undulating greens, strategic bunkering, and risk-reward holes. Together the two courses present contrasting but complementary challenges within one of Portugal's most naturally rich coastal settings.
