Ted Rhodes Golf Course is located on the banks of the Cumberland River in North Nashville. Originally called Cumberland Golf Course, it opened as a nine-hole facility in 1953. In 1969, the course was renamed to honor Theodore "Ted" Rhodes, a pioneering African American golf professional from Nashville who helped pave the way for black golfers in professional golf.

The course was redesigned and expanded to eighteen holes in May 1992, featuring a links-style layout with lakes and bunkers. The greens are notably large, providing ample target area for approach shots. The course is designed to be walkable, combining golf with exercise. The setting offers scenic wildlife viewing opportunities, with the Cumberland River and lakes providing natural habitats for turtles, fish, muskrats, and occasional beavers in an urban environment.

Ted Rhodes hosts the Duffers Golf Association, a group known for competitive play and community support, including an annual tournament benefiting Sickle Cell Anemia research and support for Meharry Hospital.
