Tarry Brae Golf Course is an 18-hole municipal course located in South Fallsburg, NY, designed by William Mitchell, who also designed Kutsher's. The course navigates hilly, mountainside terrain with numerous doglegs and tree-lined fairways winding around strategically placed bunkers. Many greens slope back to front, demanding precise approach shots positioned below the hole to avoid difficult putts.
The signature hole is the par-5 sixth, a shorter hole framed by scenic views of Echo Lake in the background. Long hitters can reach it in two with a mid-iron. The course's primary difficulty comes from a strong collection of par-3 holes—three exceeding 200 yards from the back tees, with holes 4 and 11 playing uphill and hole 17 traversing water. Par-4 holes play long and tight, requiring solid ball-striking. The course is characterized as longer, tighter, and more challenging than its sister course Lochmor, catering to better players. Greens are generous in size and well-maintained. Recent infrastructure improvements include a state-of-the-art two-line automated irrigation system, enhancing course conditioning and allowing customized watering throughout different sections.
