Tairua Golf and Country Club is an 18-hole championship course located in the picturesque seaside village of Tairua on the Coromandel Peninsula's Eastern Seaboard, approximately 1.5 to 2 hours from Auckland. The course evolved from its original nine-hole layout established in 1966, relocating to its current township site in 1970, expanding to twelve holes by 1974, and reaching a full eighteen holes in 1994.
The course is set amongst rolling hills with natural water features that contribute to its challenging layout. The terrain and setting provide scenic views across Tairua Harbour, the coastline, and surrounding Coromandel Ranges. The club's location on the Main Highway in town makes it accessible to visitors and local golfers alike, positioned within walking distance of the town centre.
Beyond golf, the facility operates as a full country club, offering four lawn croquet greens and previously hosted bowls. The club has hosted notable tournaments, including the 2010 New Zealand Men's Veterans Championship. The facility welcomes both members and visitors, providing a friendly club environment with bar facilities available throughout the week.
