Located in Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture, the Taiheiyo Club Mashiko Course is an 18-hole, par-71 layout designed by renowned architect Toshisuke Kato. The course spans 7,030 yards from the championship tees and sits on a 710,000-square-meter site. Opened in September 1976, the flat, wooded terrain is characterized by red pines, oak, and Japanese oak trees that separate the holes, creating a strategic challenge that balances beauty with difficulty. The course features a JGA Course Rating of 72.9 and is equipped with extensive practice facilities, including a driving range, putting green, and approach green, alongside the PGA Golf Academy Pacific Club Mashiko. The layout demands precision off the tee and careful course management, with strategically placed ponds and stone bunkers adding to the challenge. Notable holes include the long par-5 first and fifth holes, which test distance and accuracy, while the short par-3s require precise iron play. The back nine features a demanding par-5 tenth hole and a challenging par-4 sixteenth, where the course rating indicates significant difficulty. The fairways are lined with mature trees, and the greens are protected by bunkers and water hazards, requiring golfers to navigate a strategic path to score well. The course has hosted significant professional tournaments, including the 2004 Japan LPGA Tour Championship (Konica Minolta Cup) and the annual Pacific Open Golf Championship, which grants winners and runners-up entry into the Mitsui Sumitomo VISA Pacific Masters. It also regularly hosts the JGTO Second Qualifying Tournament.
