Haga Country Club is a 27-hole facility located in Shikawa, Haga District, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. The course is built into a natural hilly landscape, with pine forests separating the various holes to create a distinct woodland atmosphere. The layout consists of three distinct nine-hole loops—East, South, and West—allowing for varied routing and playability depending on the wind direction. The course utilizes both Bent and Korai greens, with the specific putting surface varying by the loop played. The East Course is characterized by long, strategic holes that demand precise distance control. The 3rd hole is a demanding dogleg left where players must carry a fairway bunker from the regular tees, while the 5th presents a downhill par-3 onto a sloping "potato chip" green that punishes aggressive pin-seeking. The South Course features a mix of elevation changes and water hazards. The 6th hole is the longest on the property at 570 yards from the back tees, requiring a careful drive to the right side of the fairway to set up an uphill approach. The 4th and 5th holes on this loop are downhill tee shots that transition into uphill second shots, creating significant yardage misjudgments for unwary golfers. The West Course is widely regarded as the most challenging of the three, featuring several difficult par-4s and a long par-3. The 5th hole is described as the most difficult on the course, featuring a water hazard to the right on the tee shot and a heavily guarded green that penalizes players for attempting to reach it in two. The 3rd hole is the longest par-3 at 210 yards from the back tees, protected by a high-faced bunker. The 1st hole is a long dogleg right where the approach shot is blind and uphill, requiring players to trust their yardage over the visible pin position. Overall, the course is known for its length and technical difficulty. Several mid-range holes feature second shots that are too long to reach the green safely, forcing players to lay up. Water hazards and out-of-bounds areas are strategically placed throughout the loops, particularly on the South and West courses, requiring accurate shot-making rather than just power. The course ratings range from 71.6 to 73.4 depending on the direction of play, with yardages extending up to 7,106 yards from the back tees.
