The Taichung Golf Course is a 27-hole facility located in the Dajia District of Taichung, situated within the Dajue Mountain area, a national scenic area covering over 3,300 hectares. The course is divided into three distinct nine-hole loops: the East Course, the Center Course, and the West Course. Designed by renowned architect David Thomas, the layout spans 120 hectares and is set in a mountainous environment that isolates the grounds from the urban noise of Taichung city. The construction was carried out by Hua Xiong Construction Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Thomas to ensure the terrain and soil conditions were optimally utilized. The East Course presents a par 36 layout with a total distance of 3,651 yards from the championship tees. Key holes include the 8th, a demanding par 5 measuring 672 yards from the front tees, and the 4th, a 522-yard par 5. The Center Course also plays to par 36, spanning 3,498 yards from the championship tees. It features a 530-yard par 5 on the 4th hole and a 474-yard par 4 on the 6th, which serves as the stroke index 1 hole. The West Course rounds out the 27 holes with a par 36 and a championship distance of 3,370 yards. Notable challenges here include the 1st hole, a 571-yard par 5, and the 8th hole, another par 5 measuring 569 yards from the championship tees. The facility is positioned as a convenient retreat for golfers, located approximately 20 minutes from the繁华 downtown area of Taichung. The climate in central Taiwan allows for year-round play, avoiding the extreme cold of the north or the intense heat of the south. The course design incorporates significant earthworks and soil conservation efforts, which are described as among the most comprehensive in the country. The combination of the three nine-hole loops allows for varied routing and strategic play across the expansive mountainous terrain.
