Sundsvalls Golfklubb is a 18-hole, par 70 course located in Kvissleby, just outside Sundsvall, Sweden. The layout is divided into two distinct sections designed by different architects: the front nine, established in 1953, was designed by Rafael Sundblom, while the back nine, added in 1966, was designed by Nils Sköld. The course is situated on a mix of former agricultural land and the Ödlunska estate, with the latter half offering views of the Ljungan river. The front nine is characterized as a parkland course, originally planted with a variety of trees including poplars, willows, elms, lindens, maples, and oaks to separate the holes. This dense planting has created a unique, mature parkland environment. The back nine, in contrast, is dominated by the region's native tree species, such as pine, spruce, birch, and alder. The course also features historical significance, with ancient burial grounds from the period 300–1050 AD located on the property. The club has a rich history, having been registered as the 40th golf club in Sweden. The initial nine holes were built on land owned by the forestry company SCA and were inaugurated by Prince Bertil in 1953. SCA transferred the course and buildings to the golf club in 1970. The course is known for its challenging nature, described by the club as offering "tough challenges" within a natural setting. A major renovation project was approved by the members in 2021, with construction beginning in 2021 and continuing into 2022. The project aims to improve playability, safety, and the overall experience while maintaining an 18-hole layout throughout the construction. The master plan includes the construction of new tees and the renovation of several holes, with a focus on accommodating all handicap levels and supporting junior development. The course also features a driving range equipped with Top Tracer technology.
