Strokestown Golf Club

Strokestown Golf Club is a 9-hole parkland course located near Strokestown in County Roscommon, Ireland, approximately 2km east of the town along the N5 Dublin-Westport route. Formed in 1995 and affiliated with the GUI, the club relocated to its current scenic location in 2001.

The course measures 5,256 metres with a par of 70 (standard scratch 69 for 18 holes), while the ladies' course is 4,764 metres, par 74. The layout features a mix of par 3s, 4s, and one par 5, with several holes presenting distinct challenges. Wind conditions significantly influence play throughout the course, affecting club selection on multiple holes. Notable features include water hazards on several holes, out-of-bounds sections, and strategically placed trees and bunkers. The ninth hole, a dog-legged par 5, is described as particularly challenging. The course is characterized by sloped greens and natural hazards including gullies and ponds, requiring precision and strategic shot placement. The parkland setting provides an attractive playing environment with scenic views typical of the West of Ireland landscape.
