The Arnold Palmer Designed Course at Speidel Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 71 championship layout located in Wheeling, West Virginia, within the Oglebay Park Resort complex. The course features six par-three holes, seven par-four holes, and five par-five holes, ranging from 6,800 yards from the championship tees to 4,200 yards from the forward tees. This modern design accommodates golfers of all skill levels with a slope rating of 135 and course rating of 71.9.
Nestled in the rolling hills of West Virginia, the Palmer Course showcases Arnold Palmer's signature design philosophy emphasizing playability alongside challenge. The layout incorporates strategically placed bunkers, attractive mounding, and generous greens that take advantage of the existing terrain. Widely regarded as the more playable of Oglebay's two championship layouts, the course offers elevation changes and scenic views while maintaining accessibility for players of varying abilities.
The Palmer Course opened as the newer of the two Speidel Golf Club courses, roughly three decades after the Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed course. It operates as a public facility within the larger Oglebay Park Resort, which is situated on 2,000 scenic acres near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
