Soule Park Golf Course is an 18-hole championship parkland layout situated in the Ojai Valley beneath the Topa Topa Mountains in Ojai, California. Originally designed by renowned architect William F. Bell in 1962, the course underwent a significant 2005 renovation by Gil Hanse, a prominent modern architect known for Olympic and U.S. Open venues. Hanse's redesign emphasized old-school strategic design principles, featuring interesting green complexes, strategic bunkering, and wide fairways that challenge without overwhelming players of varying skill levels.
The course was ranked the 48th best municipal golf course in the country by Golf Week magazine in 2014 and named "The Best Course You've Never Heard Of" by GOLF Magazine in 2021. The playable layout accommodates golfers of all abilities while offering strategic shot-making opportunities. The setting provides dramatic mountain views and natural beauty, with the surrounding landscape creating an inviting atmosphere. The course design balances challenge with accessibility, making it suitable for both competitive play and casual outings.
